Will my breasts ever feel normal again after breastfeeding?

Question from Sophie L., 31, Canada. Mom of 10-month-old baby boy.

Oh mama, I asked myself this question so many times — usually while staring in the mirror, holding a stretchy sports bra, and wondering if I'd ever feel normal again. 😔

The truth? Your breasts might not feel exactly the way they did before. After breastfeeding twins, mine definitely didn’t. They were sore, stretched, and so sensitive it hurt just to wear a regular bra. I remember feeling like I’d lost something — not just the firmness or fullness, but that old sense of familiarity with my own body. And honestly? That grief is real, even if no one talks about it.

But here’s the part I want you to hold onto — your breasts are still yours. And they deserve comfort, care, and love, just like every other part of you. 🌸

What helped me? Finding a bra that didn’t treat my body like a problem to be fixed. I ditched the wires. I found a soft, supportive style that didn’t dig into healing tissue or make me dread getting dressed. That one change — just one! — shifted everything. I stopped seeing my body as “ruined,” and started seeing it as strong, nurturing, and worthy. 💕

No one tells us how much emotional weight our breasts carry after motherhood. But you’re not alone if you feel disconnected or unsure. You grew a human, fed it, comforted it, carried it — and now your body is asking for a little love in return. Give it. Gently. 💗

Normal doesn’t have to mean “the way things were.” It can mean feeling good again, feeling supported, and feeling like yourself — even if it’s a new version of you.

Love,
Lina P.
