Why are all nursing bras so ugly and uncomfortable?
Share
Question from Julia R., 29, Australia. First-time mom to a 3-month-old baby girl.
Ohhh, this question hit me right in the underwire😩 I remember standing in the nursing aisle, holding up bra after bra that looked like it belonged in a medical supply catalog — stiff, beige, and about as flattering as a paper bag. And don’t even get me started on the pinching, itching, and zero support where I actually needed it.
It was like the moment I became a mom, the world decided I didn’t care about feeling beautiful anymore.
That frustration? That’s exactly what sparked the idea for Bloom & Heal. I was deep in postpartum life with my twins — leaking, healing, and completely exhausted — and I kept wondering, Why is everything made for new moms so... clinical? Why did softness, femininity, and basic comfort have to disappear the moment I gave birth?
I didn’t want a bra that screamed “I’ve given up!” I wanted something gentle, wire-free, supportive — and still me. Something I could breastfeed in at 2AM and wear under a cozy sweater without feeling like a walking hospital gown 🌸
The truth is, most big brands design nursing bras with only one thing in mind: function. But moms? We are more than milk machines. We’re still women who want to feel human, confident, and held — emotionally and physically. 🤱💕
So I stopped waiting for someone else to solve the problem, and I created the bras I wish I had from day one. Because yes, your body changes — but your right to feel good in your skin doesn’t.
You deserve better. And better exists. ✨
