Orange Creamsicle Overnight Oats for First Trimester Cravings

Orange Creamsicle Overnight Oats for First Trimester Cravings

These Orange Creamsicle Overnight Oats were born during that early pregnancy phase when hormones felt like a daily surprise.

I craved bright, fruity flavors, but most foods made my stomach turn, and anything that took more than a few minutes felt impossible. This one reminded me of summer mornings, when things felt lighter.

On days when I wanted an even bigger escape, I leaned on my Passionfruit Overnight Oats for a full tropical moment in a jar.

Tips & Variations For the Best Pregnancy-Safe Orange Creamsicle Overnight Oats

  • Choose the right oats: Avoid steel-cut oats and instant/quick oats. Steel-cut oats won't soften and will remain quite gritty in texture, whereas instant oats will turn into a strange pudding. Stick to old-fashioned oats for best results.
  • Make it dairy-free & vegan: Swap the Greek yogurt in the recipe for almond yogurt or coconut yogurt. Also, use a vegan sweetened condensed milk (if using).
  • Add protein: Stir 1-2 tablespoons 1-Ingredient Almond Butter into the oat mixture before refrigerating for extra protein. I don't recommend peanut butter because it has a stronger flavor.
  • Use sweetened milk: Using sweetened almond milk lets you reduce the maple syrup in the recipe or skip it altogether. Try my Sweetened Almond Milk (3-Ways!) for this recipe. My favorite variation is the Honey Almond Milk for these overnight oats!
  • Meal prep: Double or triple the recipe and you've got breakfast for the whole week (almost) ready to go!
  • Swap the milk: Oat, rice, coconut, Homemade Pistachio Milk, or any plant-based milk works for this recipe!
  • More toppings: Sliced almonds, dried cranberries, chia seeds, or coconut chips are great ways to add more flavor and texture. 1/2-1 tablespoon should be enough.

A Note From My Chaotic Kitchen

First trimester taught me to stop chasing perfect meals and start choosing what felt doable.

If something brought a little comfort or reminded me of an easier season, that was enough. A cool jar from the fridge, the scent of orange, and a quiet pause before the day begins can make all the difference.
