10-Minute Sweetened Almond Milk (3 Ways!) for First Trimester Fatigue
Share
These 10-Minute Sweetened Almond Milk (3 Ways!) recipes came from realizing that sometimes unsweetened almond milk just was not cutting it anymore.
I usually stick to my 10-Minute Unsweetened Almond Milk or the 2-Ingredient Unsweetened Almond Milk (Overnight!) because store-bought sweetened versions feel like a sugar overload.
But during those extra-tired first-trimester weeks, I started craving just a little sweetness... So I started experimenting in the kitchen :)

Why This Pregnancy 10-Minute Sweetened Almond Milk Recipe for First Trimester Moms Works
- Custom sweetness. You control the sugar, not a label on a carton.
- Supports fatigue. Quick to make when energy is limited.
- Gentle on digestion. Dairy-free and easy to tolerate.
-
Flexible options. Honey, dates, or chocolate depending on cravings.
How The Ingredients In This Pregnancy-Friendly 10-Minute Sweetened Almond Milk Supports You & The Baby
What I love about making it at home is how gentle it feels.
You get that soft almond base, lightly sweetened in a way that still feels calm and steady. Whether it is honey, dates, or a hint of chocolate, it blends into something smooth and soothing, not cloying or overwhelming.
It feels like meeting your body halfway on days when energy is low and cravings are louder.
How This 3-Way Sweetened Almond Milk Recipe Works
- You’ll make one 10-minute almond milk base
- Then choose one of three sweetened variations
- Enjoy!

Prep Time: 10 minutes / Total Time: 10 minutes / Yields: 4 cups
Ingredients for the Almond Milk Base
- 1 1/4 cups (120 g) blanched almond flour
- 4 cups (946 ml) water
Important note: If you already have my 10-Minute Unsweetened Almond Milk or 2-Ingredient Unsweetened Almond Milk (Overnight!) ready, add it to the blender and skip to step 3.
Sweetener Variations (Choose 1)
-
Honey Almond Milk
- 2-3 teaspoons honey.
-
Date Almond Milk
- 3-4 pitted Medjool dates.
-
Chocolate Almond Milk
- 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon Chocolate Hazelnut Spread
- 2 teaspoons maple syrup.
Preparation Instructions for 10-Minute Sweetened Almond Milk
- Stir the almond flour and 2 cups water in a large bowl or pitcher until well combined. This prevents the almond flour from clumping up in the blender.
- Transfer the mixture to the blender along with the remaining 2 cups of water.
- Add your sweetener of choice (honey, dates, or chocolate variation ingredients).
- Blend on high speed for 2-3 minutes, or until completely smooth and silky. For Date Almond Milk, you may need to blend for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Strain the liquid into a large bowl or pitcher using a cheesecloth, nut milk bag, or fine-mesh strainer. Press or squeeze the cloth as much as possible to get as much milk out.
Refrigerate until ready to use. Enjoy!

Tips & Variations For the Best Pregnancy-Safe 10-Minute Sweetened Almond Milk
- Make several batches: I love making 2 or 3 batches of the almond milk base so I can keep different kinds of sweetened almond milk in the fridge at all times.
- Sweetened Pistachio Milk: If you're tired of almond milk, use honey, dates, or cocoa powder + Chocolate Hazelnut Spread and maple syrup to make an easy, sweetened variation of my High Fiber Pistachio Milk.
- Use store-bought: If your fatigue is that bad (I've been there), use store-bought unsweetened almond milk as the base of the recipe. Sweeten according to one of the variations in this recipe. It's better to know how much sugar (and what ingredients) are in your almond milk than not at all.
What to Serve With These 10-Minute Sweetened Almond Recipes
Here are my favorite ways to enjoy and use any of the 3 sweetened almond milk variations:
- On their own, straight out of the fridge, with a plain rice cake when my morning sickness is on the edge.
- For baking or preparing breakfast recipes, like my Lemon-Yogurt Loaf and High Protein Blueberry Cottage Cheese Pancakes.
- Added to cozy morning drinks like my Decaf Pumpkin Spice Latte and Starbucks Copycat Turmeric Golden Milk Latte.
- Used in breakfast smoothies, overnight oats, and chia pudding recipes. The Chocolate Almond Milk variation is especially yummy with my Morning Sickness Chocolate Banana Overnight Oats... It tastes like brownies for breakfast!

How to Store This Pregnancy 10-Minute Sweetened Almond Milk
- Fridge: It doesn't have any additives of commercial almond milk, so don't expect it to last as long in the fridge. Store in an airtight glass jar or bottle. Keep up to 4–5 days. Shake well before drinking as natural separation happens.
- Freezing: Pour into freezer-safe containers with space for expansion (or ice cube trays for portions). Freeze up to 1 month. Thaw overnight in the fridge and shake vigorously. Enjoy chilled. No heating required.
