Pregnancy-Friendly Antioxidant-Rich Dalgona Matcha Latte for First Trimester (Helps Combat Fatigue!!)

When the fatigue hit during my first trimester, it didn’t just make me tired... It made me foggy. Like I was watching life through a soft blur, holding my breath between naps and nausea.

One morning, craving something that made me feel awake without the sugar high or caffeine crash, I made this Pregnancy-Friendly Antioxidant-Rich Dalgona Matcha Latte. The quiet whisking became a small act of self-care: rhythmic, grounding, and oddly therapeutic.

And on days when I wanted to switch it up, my Anti-Inflammatory Pistachio Matcha Latte gave me that same calm focus, with a creamier, nutty twist.

Why This Dalgona Matcha Latte Recipe for First Trimester Moms Works

  • Fights fatigue gently. Matcha gives mild, sustained energy without caffeine crashes.
  • Packed with antioxidants. Supports your body’s natural defenses and energy level.
  • Easy on the stomach. Oat milk and honey are soothing, light, and nausea-friendly.
  • No cooking smells. Just whisk, pour, and sip — no stovetop needed.
  • Simple and beautiful. Feels like a café drink from your kitchen even on tired mornings.

Why This Pregnancy and Postpartum-Friendly Dalgona Matcha Latte Is Good For You & The Baby

This latte quickly became one of my favorites because it bridges energy and comfort :)

Matcha offers a gentle lift without the jittery caffeine spikes of coffee, while oat milk brings a soothing creaminess. The antioxidants in matcha support your body’s natural balance, and honey gives just enough sweetness to make it indulgent.

I loved knowing I could enjoy something pretty, energizing, and pregnancy-safe — especially on mornings when cooking felt impossible and all I wanted was a quiet moment to myself.

Prep Time: 5 minutes / Cook Time: 5 minutes / Total Time: 10 minutes / Yields: 1 cup

Ingredients (This is It!)

For the whipped layer:

  • 1 tablespoon matcha powder
  • 1 tablespoon hot water
  • 1 tablespoon honey

For the latte base:

  • 1 cup oat milk
  • 1 tablespoon honey, or to taste
  • Ice

Preparation Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the matcha powder, hot water, and honey.
  2. Using a small whisk or a fork, vigorously whisk the mixture until it becomes a thick, frothy, and creamy paste. This will take a few minutes of continuous whisking. Milk frother wands are also perfect for this (and quiet!!)
  3. In a glass, add ice. Pour in the oat milk and stir in the honey for the base.
  4. Carefully spoon the whipped matcha mixture on top of the oat milk.
  5. Take a photo, then stir, and enjoy immediately!

Tips & Variations For the Best Pregnancy-Safe Dalgona Matcha Latte

  • Swap the plant-based milk: Almond, coconut, rice, soy milk, and other plant-based milks are great swaps for oat milk in this recipe.
  • Pistachio Dalgona Matcha Latte: Use Homemade Pistachio Milk instead of oat milk, and stir 1/2 tablespoon High Fiber Homemade Pistachio Butter until smooth into the latte base for a nutty variation.
  • Serve it hot: If you prefer, skip the ice and heat the oat milk in the microwave for 30-40 seconds before adding honey and spooning the whipped matcha mixture on top. I love this for chilly days!
  • Dalgona matcha latte for postpartum: When I'm out of oat milk, I just steal some of my husband's dairy milk from the fridge and the latte is just as delicious :)

What to Serve With This Pregnancy-Safe Dalgona Matcha Latte

Here are my favorite ways to enjoy it:

How to Store this Pregnancy Dalgona Matcha Latte

  • Fridge: The whipped matcha mixture can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours. The texture will flatten, but it will still be delicious stirred into the oat milk.

FAQs about this Dalgona Matcha Latte for Pregnancy & Postpartum

1. Is matcha safe during pregnancy?

Yes — in moderation (as long as it's approved by your healthcare provider). Matcha naturally contains less caffeine than coffee (about 30–35mg per serving). It’s safe for most expecting moms when kept under the 200mg daily caffeine limit and can offer antioxidants and gentle energy.

2. What are the benefits of matcha while pregnant?

Matcha provides antioxidants that help fight inflammation, gentle caffeine for focus, and L-theanine — an amino acid that promotes calm energy and reduces stress.

A Note From My Chaotic Kitchen

Every mom needs something that makes her feel a little more alive in the fog — a soft ritual that’s hers alone. This latte became that for me.

No caffeine guilt, no harsh smells, no fuss. Just a peaceful pause in the middle of chaos. Kind of like slipping into my Bloom & Heal bra — soft, supportive, and a reminder that being gentle with myself doesn’t mean I’m slowing down; it means I’m choosing ease, one sip at a time.
