Dairy-Free Pistachio Matcha Latte for First Trimester Morning Sickness
Share
There were mornings in my first trimester when my body craved something warm and grounding, but coffee wasn’t an option.
That’s when I started leaning on gentle lattes like this pistachio matcha one. It's creamy, soothing, and nourishing in a way that felt like a hug in a cup.
If you’ve tried my Turmeric Golden Milk Latte, Pumpkin Spice Latte, or Dalgona Matcha Latte, you’ll love this nourishing variation of café-style drinks from the comfort of home.
Why This Pistachio Matcha Latte Recipe for First Trimester Moms Works
- Antioxidant-rich. Matcha and pistachios bring anti-inflammatory benefits.
- Gentle on the stomach. Creamy, mild flavors won’t trigger nausea.
- Calm energy. Matcha provides a steady lift, not coffee jitters.
- Soothing ritual. Warm, frothy, and comforting in 5 minutes.
Benefits of This Pregnancy and Postpartum-Friendly Pistachio Matcha Latte For You & The Baby

This recipe has become a quiet ritual for me. Matcha brings its antioxidants and a steady, calm kind of energy (so different from the jitters of coffee), while pistachio butter adds creaminess and fiber.
Together with honey and oat milk, it’s not just a drink... It’s a moment of relief, a pause where you can breathe.
For days when I craved pistachios in other forms, my Pistachio Banana Nice Cream, Pistachio Butter Toast, and Pistachio Chia Pudding were always waiting for me.
Prep Time: 5 minutes / Total Time: 5 minutes / Yields: 1 serving
Ingredients (This is It!)
- 1 teaspoon matcha powder
- 1 tablespoon hot water (not boiling)
- 1 cup 5-Minute Oat Milk (or any plant-based milk)
- 1 tablespoon Homemade Pistachio Butter (or your favorite brand!)
- 1/2 tablespoon honey (or 1-2 teaspoons brown sugar)
Optional Garnish:
- A pinch of matcha powder
Preparation Instructions
- In a mug, whisk the matcha powder and hot water together until a smooth paste forms. You can use a bamboo whisk or a small kitchen whisk.
- In a separate small saucepan, gently warm the oat milk, pistachio butter, and honey (or brown sugar) over medium-low heat, whisking constantly until the pistachio butter has melted and the mixture is smooth.
- For a frothy top, use a handheld milk frother to froth the warmed milk mixture.
- Pour the warm pistachio milk into the mug with the matcha paste. Stir gently to combine.
- If desired, sprinkle a pinch of matcha powder over the top before serving.

Tips For the Best Pregnancy-Safe Pistachio Matcha Latte
- Iced pistachio matcha latte: Fill the mug with the matcha mixture with ice. Pour in the warm milk-pistachio mixture. Enjoy!
- Swap the milk: Feel free to use my 10-Minute Almond Milk, 5-Minute Rice Milk, coconut milk, 2-Ingredient Cashew Milk, or your favorite plant-based milk. I even have a Sweetened Almond Milk (3-Ways!) recipe.
- Sift the matcha powder: Prevent unnecessary lumps in your latte by sifting the matcha powder into the mug. Whisk it with hot water really well until completely smooth.
- Boost the pistachio flavor: Prepare this recipe with Homemade Pistachio Milk instead of oat milk for double the flavor!!

A Note From My Chaotic Kitchen
Mama, in the first trimester, when nausea is unpredictable and your energy dips, it’s the smallest rituals that can carry you through.
A warm mug, five quiet minutes, and something gentle on your stomach. This latte can be one of those anchors.
